Spasskaya Tower Festival has been taking place annually in Moscow for the past 9 years. The ten days long event brings international and Russian military bands, orchestras and ensembles together. This year, groups from Austria, Belarus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Scotland, Singapore, Slovenia and of course Russia were on display.
On September 1st, 2016 I had a unique privilege to open a special concert for a VIP international audience performing Rachmaninov in Alexander’s Hall of Kremlin. The orchestra was conducted by Valery Khalilov.
And then we were invited to attend the spectacular show on the Red Square!
Here the finale conducted by Valery Khalilov |
Post Scriptum: It is with profound sadness that we have learned of the tragic passing of musicians of the renowned Alexandrov Ensemble and their newly appointed conductor Valery Khalilov, on this 25 December 2016, victims of a plane crash in the Black Sea off the coast of Adler near Sochi.
